My first love was arts and crafts.  I stared making candles at 9 years old, moving on the drawing my own paper dolls and clothes the same year.  At 14, my dad bought me a sewing machine.  I spent my high school years in my bedroom, which became my sanctuary-my sewing studio.  I loved making quilts back then…I have not stopped creating since!

I have focused on painted floor art and reverse glass paintings for the past 25 years.  My subject matter centers around the Sonoran Desert and other places I travel, my home, my obsessions, family, friends, and flora and fauna.  In the past few years, I have ventured into fabric design.  I have an entire line of textile items based on my work.

I work with several non-profits using my art to benefit their worthy causes.  I am so grateful to do what I love!

I officially started MELBECK STUDIO in 2005 in Tucson and started transitioning to the Northwest in 2012. That gave me a fresh perspective on my life and on my work.  I traded cactus and desert for trees and water.  As of late 2021-back to Tucson!
